Microsoft® SQL Server® Lifecycle dates

The Access Group develops and tests any future product releases on currently supported mainstream versions of both Microsoft OS® and Microsoft SQL Server®.

We cannot guarantee that non mainstream supported Microsoft SQL® versions will not have issues, although the product framework is built to be backward compatible.

Our recommendation if you are currently using Microsoft SQL Server 2017® as a minimum. If you are planning to upgrade for your business, we would suggest opting for a higher version for the optimum support term.

See Microsoft® SQL Server® Lifecycle for details and support end dates.

  • Mainstream support includes functional, performance, scalability, and security updates.

  • Extended support includes only security updates

End of support (also sometimes known as end of life) indicates that a product has reached the end of its lifecycle, and servicing and support are no longer available for the product.

Once your SQL Server® has reached the end of support stage:

  • Upgrade to a current version of SQL Server®.
