A script is an executable file (.exe) and is often compressed in a .zip format. It is used to apply a system change to your database.
Follow these steps when a script has been received from a consultant via email, FTP or contained within an article.
Tip: Scripts can only be run on machines where MicrOpay Evo is locally installed (including the server). You may need to consult with your IT Department if you do not have local Admin permissions to save or run files on your C:\ drive or desktop.
Executing a database script
If the script has been uploaded to the FTP, log in to the FTP site - https://transfer.micropay.com.au/.
Login ID - Client ID
Password - as advised
Save or download the script to your desktop. To do so:
Right-click on the zip file or article attachment.
Select Save As.
Navigate to your desktop and click Save.
If the file is a zip,
Right-click the zip and select Properties.
Tick Unblock at the bottom right.
Click Apply and OK.
Double-click on the zip file and select Extract to the desktop.
Perform a backup of your Payroll and Common databases before executing the script.
Ensure that no other users are logged in.
Log in and then log out of the Payroll Database you need to run the script on. This step directs the script to locate the last database accessed.
Right-click on the script exe and select Run as administrator. If you don't run as administrator, you will receive an error 'Cannot write to . . . '.
If prompted by the User Account Control pop-up 'to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes' select Yes.
In the Updater, confirm that the Payroll Server\Database and Common Server\Database are correct. If not, repeat from step 4 or click the Payroll Server\Database dropdown menu to select the correct Payroll database. A blue tick will appear next to Payroll Server\Database when a valid database has been selected.
If you have more than one Payroll Database, a pop-up message may appear. Unless instructed specifically by a Consultant, click No. This ensures that the script is only run on the selected Payroll Database.
Click Run.
Once the process is completed, a successful message appears. Click Close.
Log in and confirm that the script has fixed the area of concern.
Troubleshooting
If you receive one of the following messages:
'Unable to find a valid MicrOpay login'
'Cannnot write to C:\Users . . . . . .sqe' several times ending with 'Some file(s) couldn't get extracted'
Refer to the sections below for further information:
'Unable to find a valid MicrOpay login'
Check that you are running the script where MicrOpay Evo is installed, and do the following:
Launch MicrOpay Evo as an Administrator by right-clicking on the icon.
If the database is not listed in the front Databases window, locate the correct database on the correct SQL server by clicking Find and following the wizard.
Once you have configured the databases to connect to the SQL Server, log in as Agent ‘Admin’.
Exit.
Select Run as Administrator when you right-click on the script.
'Cannot write to C:\Users . . . . .sqe'
Once you have reached the final error, 'Some file(s) couldn't get extracted.':
Click OK to close the message.
Right-click on the exe script file and select Run as administrator.
Click Yes to the message 'Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device?'
The Updater should then open and you can proceed.
If the solution does not work after following these steps, raise a case via the Customer Portal and reference the title of this article for further assistance.
