MicrOpay ESS - Create a new role in ESS

Copy or duplicate or edit an existing role in ESS so that managers can have different levels of access

Updated over 2 months ago

To create roles in ESS, you duplicate existing ones. You then set the level of access required. For example:

  • You can duplicate a Member Role to create a role for Terminated Employees that only needs access to Pay Advices.

  • You can duplicate a Manager Role for Leave Approvals.

Three levels of access can be set for each permission:

  • Deny (red circle with a diagonal line) means no access.

  • View (blue circle with an eye) will allow the role to View the field.

  • Edit (yellow circle with pencil) means that the role can change the field.

To Duplicate a role:

  1. Log into ESS as a user with Administration access.

  2. Go to Settings, Roles & Permissions.

  3. Locate the Role that is most similar to the one you need to create

  4. Click the ellipsis button (three dots) for the role.

  5. Select Duplicate.

  6. Give the new role a Name and, if required, a Description.

  7. Click Add, which will take you to the Permissions page, where you set what they have permission to and the level of access.

  8. To change Permissions, click Edit in the top right.

  9. Select the box or field you wish to change.

  10. Then select the permissions level from the menu.

  11. Once all changes have been made, click Save in the top right.
