MicrOpay ESS - Rules for password changes and sign-in attempts in ESS

Can I set the rules for password changes and sign-in attempts

Updated over 4 months ago

MicrOpay ESS is a cloud-based system that is hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform. Passwords and sign-in security standards must meet both security polices and the specifications of the Microsoft Azure identity management service. Therefore, password management strength and expiry are hardcoded for all ESS customers and cannot be customised.

The password and security requirements are listed below. Currently, your password:

  • Will expire every 120 days.

  • Must be at least eight characters long

  • Must contain at least one character from three out of the four following character types:

    • Upper case letters (A-Z)

    • Lower case letters (a-z)

    • Digits (0-9)

    • Symbols including @ # $ % ^ & * - _ ! + = [ ] { } | \ : ' , . ? / ` ~ " ( ) ;

  • Must be different to your last three passwords.

When choosing a new password, try to avoid obvious words, even if letters are replaced by other characters, e.g. Pas$$word. Try combining several uncommon words and mixing in a variety of characters.

Important: You cannot change your password within 24 hours of a previous change.

User accounts are locked after five consecutive incorrect sign-in attempts.

On the first lockout, the account unlocks automatically after a minute, so if you can remember your password but just entered it incorrectly, you can try again after that. If you continue to enter incorrect sign-in details, your account will be locked after each five attempts and the lockout period gets longer each time.

If you can’t remember your password, use the Forgot your password? link on the Enter password page to reset it.
