Produce an Employment Separation Certificate:
There are two steps to producing an Employment Separation Certificate:
Confirm the final Employment Separation Details for a terminated employee.
Generate the Employment Separation Certificate.
Before generating an Employment Separation Certificate, the employee must be terminated, either by processing a termination pay or by manually entering Termination Details into the employee record.
When an employee is terminated via a Termination transaction, the Employment Separation Certificate will be populated with the values from the Termination pay. An End of Pay must be completed before the Termination pay values are included on the Separation Certificate.
Manually inserting a Termination date and reason into the employee record will not populate the certificate details with values - you will need to enter the values manually into the Separation Certificate screen.
Note: Not all employees will have payout values, e.g. casual employees, however, Centrelink may still require a completed form explaining termination reasons and pay history.
Confirm the employee’s Employment Separation Details
Go to Payroll, Maintenance, Employees, Employees.
Edit the terminated employee.
Select Termination Details and click the Employment Separation Details button.
In the Employment Separation Details, select the Reason for Separation. If more details are required, enter them in the box provided.
Complete the questions regarding Workers Compensation and the Employee’s final gross pay details.
The employee's average weekly wage will be automatically calculated, based on previous pay history.
Complete the final grid by entering any cash leave values paid to the employee over the past 12 months.
Click OK to save the certificate details and OK again.
Generate the Employment Separation Certificate
Go to Payroll, Reports, General, Employment Separation Certificate.
Select the Employee or employee range.
Specify a date range for the report by entering a From Termination Date and To Termination Date.
Click Print to produce the report. One Employment Separation Certificate is printed per portrait page.
Tip: To create a PDF of the report, select Microsoft Print to PDF as the Printer Name, rather than selecting Print to File at the bottom. Using Print to File may result in the checkboxes not appearing correctly.
