From MCS version 3.7.3.2 and above, MicrOpay will apply date-based eligibility checks before triggering each leave export for Sage People instances using SFTP integration, ensuring leave balances are only sent to Sage People at the right time.
What does this mean for you?
Leave balances in Sage People will be more accurate and timely — always reflecting the correct entitlement date.
How will this work?
Annual Leave (Accrual-Based) and Accrual-Based Personal Leave
The export will now be date-driven based on the Pay Period End Date:
Leave balance will be exported when today's date is on or after the Period End Date.
If the pay run is processed before the Period End Date, the export will be held back until that date is reached.
The Effective Date sent to Sage People will reflect the Period End Date.
For example:
Period End Date is the same as today's date (both are 12 February 2026), then the export is triggered and leave will be updated in Sage People.
Period End Date (8 February 2026) is before today's date (12 February 2026), then the export is triggered and leave will be updated in Sage People.
Period End Date (15 February 2026) is after today's date (12 February 2026), then the export is not triggered and the leave is held until it is 15 February.
Personal Leave (Anniversary-Granted)
The export will be date-driven based on the employee's Entitlement Date:
Leave balance will be exported when Today's date is on or after the Entitlement Date.
If the pay run is processed before the Entitlement Date, the export will be held back until the entitlement is reached.
To avoid duplicate exports, anniversary-granted leave will only be exported once per anniversary cycle — subsequent pay runs in the same cycle will not re-send the balance.
The Effective Date sent to Sage People will reflect the Entitlement Date.
For example:
The employee's Entitlement Date is the same as today's date (both are 12 February 2026), then the export is triggered and leave will be updated in Sage People.
The employee's Entitlement Date (5 February 2026) is before today's date (12 February 2026), then the export is triggered and leave will be updated in Sage People.
The employee's Entitlement Date (18 February 2026) is after today's date (12 February 2026), then the export is not triggered.
If the employee's Entitlement Date (5 February 2026) was exported in a previous period (5 February 2026) then it won't be exported in a subsequent period (19 February 2026).
Employees with Multiple Leave Types
For employees with both Annual Leave and Personal Leave, each leave type is assessed independently:
If both are eligible on the same day, both will export on that day — each with their own Effective Date.
If only one leave type is eligible on pay run day, only that one will export. The other will export as soon as its eligibility date is reached.
