Paid parental leave

The scheme is an Australian Government funded initiative. For children born or adopted from 1 July 2025 it provides for a legal entitlement of up to 24 weeks of paid parental leave at the minimum wage rate. The scheme reserves a portion the 24 weeks for partners. For more information refer to Services Australia:

Parental leave and superannuation

The government announced on the 7th of March 2024, that from 1 July 2025 it will pay superannuation on government funded Parental Leave Pay which will be administered by the ATO. This measure is now law.

The lump sum superannuation contribution will be paid following the end of each financial year in which government funded Parental Leave Pay was paid.

The ATO will make the first payments from July 2026.
