TFN Declaration fields in on Employee's Details in MicrOpay are automatically sent to the ATO when a STP Reporting Pay Event is created for an Employee.
What is the TFN Declaration button in the Employee Tax Details screen for?
This area collates the information to be used in creating the TFN Declaration Export to the ATO.
At what stage of setting up a new employee should I use the TFN Declaration button?
Once you have completed the Taxation Details, Tax Rate and Rebates/Tax Reductions areas on the Tax Details screen. The Other Taxation area has no bearing on the information used for the TFN declaration file.
You may also go back to this area once an employee is set up and you need to update their tax details. Once changes have been made in Personal & tax details, click the TFN Declaration button and select Refresh to bring through changes made.
What details does the Employee TFN Declaration screen store?
All of the taxation information from the employee’s Tax File Number declaration that you have entered into the Tax Details screen. To mark the declaration details for inclusion in the ATO file, tick the Employee Signature Present checkbox.
What happens if I change any of the information on the Employee TFN Declaration screen?
Information entered is saved by clicking OK. This will NOT save the information from this screen into the Tax Details area.
It is strongly advised that you make any changes in the Personal Details and Tax Details screens first. Information from these screens must then be updated into the Employee TFN Declaration area by selecting Refresh.
What is the difference between the Refresh and the OK buttons?
Refresh will reset the information in the screen with the details stored in the Personal and Tax Details screens. It will also remove the checkbox marked next to Employee Signature Present.
OK saves the information added to the screen that was not populated from the Tax Details screen.
STP Reporting
Any changes to the TFN Declaration fields in an Employee's Details will automatically get sent to the ATO when a STP Reporting Pay Event is created for the Employee.
You can wait until the next pay event to send the TFN declaration after they receive it from the employee, or if notified that the employee will not provide the TFN declaration. If the employee is not paid within 14 days of the employer receiving a TFN declaration an automatic deferral will be granted until the next pay day for that employee.
Note: STP Update (update event) will not send the ATO employees TFN declaration details.
