The first time a user logs into ESS, they must use the link provided in the Welcome to ESS email to activate their account and set their password. When they click on the link, they will be directed to the Sign up page, where they need to enter and confirm their password and click Sign up.

If the user tries to use the Forgot your password link from the Sign in page, they will receive a message that their 'ESS account or password are incorrect'. This is because they are yet to be set up as a user in the Identity Server. The user must first use the link in the Welcome to ESS email to create a password.
