Long Service Leave appear in a Termination Transaction

Updated over 2 months ago

Paying Long Service Leave values for an employee on termination is dependent upon the setup of the Long Service Leave class and is based on State Legislation, Award, or EBA.

As the legislation for Long Service Leave varies between states and awards, please check your relevant state or award legislation for how Long Service Leave is applied upon termination once an employee has met the conditions for Entitlement.
This may vary between:

  • All Entitlement and Pro Rata paid.

  • All Entitlement paid.

  • Pro Rata paid for completed years of service only.

If the legislation states that the employee is to be paid all Entitlement and Pro Rata, ensure that the Termination Payout radio button is set to After Pro-Rata under Payroll, Maintenance, Leave, Long Service Leave.

The After Entitlement radio button should always be set for employees on their first Long Service Leave class; this means that Long Service Leave will only be included in the Termination once the Entitlement / Entitlement Period has been exceeded. The exception to this is when the Termination Reason is Redundancy. For this reason, Long Service Leave will be included in the Termination once the Pro-Rata Entitlement period has been exceeded.

Note: If the LSL balance is still not appearing, navigate to the Long Service Leave in the employee record, Edit Employee Leave, and untick First Entitlement Period if it is selected for a leave type that is already over the first entitlement period.
