Backup and Restore

Save a copy of my database to restore at a later date

Updated over 4 months ago

The Integrated Backup and Restore allows users to backup and restore their database(s) from within the program. There is also the option to backup payroll databases and the common database from the login window.

Backup options

  • From the Login screen, use the Backup/Restore button.

  • Select Utilities and Backup Database from the menus.

Restore options

Restore a payroll database or common database backup:

  • From the Login screen, use the Backup/Restore button. An Integrated Restore can only be done from the Login screen, as all users must be logged out when restoring your database.

Note: The list of backups is stored in the EvolutionCommon database. If you restore your EvolutionCommon, the list of available backups will be those backups that were available at that point in time. And backups taken after the restore point won't show in the list.

To retrieve the backup list, restore your latest backup of the EvolutionCommon database.

If you do not have a backup of EvolutionCommon, you can restore your payroll database backup manually using SQL Server Management Studio. Contact your IT team for assistance with this.

For complete instructions on backing up and restoring databases, download the document below:

Integrated Backup and Restore Setup must be completed before using the function. And should be performed by your IT team.

The Integrated Backup and Restore document should be kept handy as a guide.

Important: After upgrading to version 9.4 SP2, you will receive a warning if you are restoring your payroll database to a backup taken before EFT/Creditor EFT files were generated, to Super Clearing batches were submitted. Care should be taken when restoring, as you might cause duplicate payments or discrepancies. For more information, see Warning: 'The selected backup file was created before Superannuation, Creditors and Salaries EFT files were generated'.

Find the backup path

Unless you have overwritten the location where backups have been saved to you can log in as an Agent with Admin rights.

  1. Go to Access MicrOpay Evo Administration, System Configuration, System Wizard.

  2. Select the Database tab.

Here you will find details where backups have been saved to.
