Generate an EFT file

Create or export a bank file and specify what date to use

Updated over 3 months ago

You export an EFT or Bank file to pay your employees. The file is then uploaded to your banking software to transfer the funds. As part of the process, you will select the date you want the bank to process the file.

To Export the EFT file:

  1. Go to Payroll, Transactions, Import and Export, EFT Export.

  2. Select Payroll Company and Location or leave as <All>.

  3. To select one employee, enter them in From Employee and To Employee. Leave these fields blank to include all Employees.

  4. Select Pay Frequency or leave as <All>.

  5. In EFT Institution, select the Company Bank Account.

  6. Enter the date you want the bank to transfer the funds in Date to be Processed by Bank. This defaults to today's date, but can be changed to a future date.

  7. Select Period End Date.

  8. General Description of Entries will default from the EFT Institution. You can change this.

  9. EFT File Path and EFT File Name are where the file will be exported and what it will be called. These default from the EFT Institution and can be changed.

  10. Tick Overwrite File if Exist if a file with the same name already exists in the file location and you want to replace it. Data will be appended to an existing file if one exists in the file location and this option is not ticked.

  11. Tick Regenerate Processed Employees if you have already exported a bank file for the period and need to re-export it. Ticking this option will include all employees who have previously had their EFT exported.

  12. If this is the first run with the bank, tick First Live Run with this Bank.

  13. To check the values included in the file, click Preview.

  14. Click EFT File to create the bank file.
