KiwiSaver Status is one of the pieces of employee information required to be reported to New Zealand's IRD as part of payday filing. It reflects an employee’s current membership status in KiwiSaver and is reported in the Employee Details file.

Opt a 16 or 17 year old into KiwiSaver
KiwiSaver changes introduced by the New Zealand Government starting 1 July 2025 may result in your employees aged 16 and 17 choosing to opt into KiwiSaver. Refer to the link below for more information on the changes and when they take affect:
Go to Payroll, Maintenance, Employees, Employees.
Edit the employee record.
Select Superannuation Details. The KiwiSaver Status will be Non Member and Not Eligible will be selected.
Click Add in the Superannuation Funds section.
This will open Add New Employee Superannuation Fund, select the employee's Fund and complete the other fields.
Click OK.
You will receive a warning that 'You've selected a KiwiSaver fund for an employee who is younger than 18...'. Click Yes to proceed. The KiwiSaver Status will change to Active Member.
Click Add in the Superannuation Contributions section.
Select the Contribution Type and Employer or Employee Contribution.
Complete the other fields include Value for Employee Contributions.
Click OK.
Repeat steps 8 to 11 for any other Contributions.
Click OK to save the employee record.
