MicrOpay New Zealand EOFY Quick Reference Guide 2024-2025

This New Zealand year end we will be offering a graphical Quick Reference Guide to direct you through your New Zealand End of Year process. You can use this Guide as the checklist for New Zealand End of Financial Year.

This printable document explores the steps of the End of Year process in overview form and is an ideal reminder for those of you who have performed the process previously. We recommend you open it in a dedicated PDF reader rather than in a web browser to enjoy the full functionality of the document.

The End of Year process contained in the Quick Reference Guide directs you to upgrade MicrOpay to version 9.4 (step 12) and then complete Change Tax Year (step 14). See release dates below:

  • Payroll On-line (Hosted) Customers are scheduled to be upgraded to 9.4 on 28 March 2025

  • On-Premise (Desktop) Customers can download the 9.4 Upgrade from 31 March 2025

Step 17 of the Quick Reference Guide, suggests that you review the Tax Parameters screen. The screen shot included is before the tax changes have been applied. For details of the 2025-2026 tax changed refer to article New Zealand - Tax Changes for the New Financial Year in New Zealand.

Note: If you need to start processing your next payroll before the above release dates, you can Change Tax Year before upgrading. Transactions will use the previous Tax Year parameters, these can be updated manually. The ESCT (Employer Savings Contribution Tax) calculation requires the upgrade, as this cannot be upgraded manually. ESCT is not calculated until you open the Payday Filing.
