New Zealand - ESCT for previous Financial Year

Find the ESCT or Employer Super Contribution Tax values after changing Tax Year

Updated over 2 months ago

IQB-ESCT 01 - ESCT Details and IQB-ESCT02 - ESCT Totals will produce data for the current Financial Year. If you need to extract values from a previous year, use the following options:

KiwiSaver Funds

To find the ESCT values associated with KiwiSaver Funds, use the Reconciliation Report and run for the previous Financial Year. This report does not include Complying Funds but will include Kiwi Saver Employer Contributions, which are Superannuation less ESCT for KiwiSaver Funds.

The report can be run with EMS Breakdown ticked, to show the data per employee, per period. Compare the Kiwi Saver Employer Contribution value to the Superannuation value on the Payroll Report. The difference will be the ESCT value. To access the report, go to Payroll, Reports, End of Year, Reconciliation Report.

Complying Funds

To find the ESCT values associated with Complying Funds, calculate these based on either the Payroll Report (Payroll, Reports, Transactions) or Employee Previous Earnings (Payroll, Reports, End of Pay). These reports will extract the Employer Superannuation value, which you multiply by the ESCT Rate. The ESCT rate is based on the ESCT Salary Threshold entered on the Superannuation Fund of the Employee's record. To find the previous Salary Threshold:

  1. Go to Payroll, Reports, General, Employee Audit Report.

  2. Select Employee Super Funds for Audit Checks.

  3. Enter a data range at From Date and To Date that includes when the ESCT Salary Threshold was updated.

  4. Click Preview.

  5. Review the Old Value for rows where Field Changed is Super Salary.

Note: If the above doesn't provide the necessary information, you can restore your database to before Change Tax Year was processed. When doing this, you must:

  • Take a current backup before you restore the database.

  • Ensure all users are out of MicrOpay whilst running the IQs.

  • Restore the database back to the current backup once you have extracted the required information and before allowing other users to access the database.
