New Zealand - Employee Contribution doesn't include all components

KiwiSaver or Super Employee Contribution doesn't include Additions, Sick Leave or Holiday Pay or Annual Leave

Updated over 2 months ago

There are two main reasons that the Employee Contribution isn't calculated on all required components:

  • Pay Components, Leave Rates or Leave Reasons haven't been selected in the deduction

  • Additions not marked to be included in the deduction

In a NZ database, Leave Reasons are attached to a Leave Rate that refers back to a formula to calculate the rate. If the Leave Rate is not selected in the Employee Contribution, then the component (e.g. Sick Leave) will not be included in the deduction calculation.

Include Pay Components, Leave Rates or Leave Reasons:

  1. Go to Payroll, Maintenance, General, Additions and Deductions.

  2. Edit the Employee Contribution deduction.

  3. Ensure that all required:

    • Pay Components and Rates have been selected in Hours Type. Leave Rates used to pay Holiday Pay etc. are included at the end of the list.

    • Leave Reasons have been included in Other Leave Reason.

    • User Defined Leave classes have been selected.

  4. Check that Process Deduction Calculation is ticked. This includes any additions (or deductions) with Include in Deduction Calculation ticked.

  5. Click OK to save any changes.

Mark Additions to be included in the calculation

  1. Go to Payroll, Maintenance, General, Additions and Deductions.

  2. Edit the Addition to include.

  3. In Deduction Options, tick Include in Deduction Calculation.

  4. Click OK.
